2023-24 Season Starting Five Grants Awarded

The Minnesota Timberwolves Lynx and Fastbreak Foundation are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2023-24 season Starting Five grants. These grants, totaling $50,000, will support five local organizations working to make a positive impact in the Twin Cities community.

Grant Recipients

The five grant recipients are:

• Urban Ventures: Provides after-school and summer programs for youth in North Minneapolis
• Girls in the Game: Empowers girls through sports and leadership programs
• Project P.A.T.H.S. (Peer Assistance Teams for High School Students): Offers mental health and wellness support to high school students
• The Bridge for Youth: Provides housing and support services to homeless youth
• Northside Achievement Zone: Works to improve the lives of children and families in North Minneapolis

Impact of the Grants

These grants will help the recipient organizations continue their valuable work in the community. Urban Ventures will use its grant to expand its after-school programming, providing more opportunities for youth to engage in positive activities and develop essential life skills.

Girls in the Game will use its grant to purchase new equipment and supplies for its sports programs, helping to increase participation and provide a more enriching experience for girls.

Project P.A.T.H.S. will use its grant to train additional peer support facilitators, ensuring that more high school students have access to mental health and wellness resources.

The Bridge for Youth will use its grant to provide housing and support services to an additional 20 homeless youth, giving them a safe and stable place to live.

Northside Achievement Zone will use its grant to expand its educational programs, providing more opportunities for children and families to succeed in school and life.
